There are two possible death registrations on FreeBMD:
John Allan Sep 1856 Cockermouth 10b 265 John Allan Sep 1861 Cockermouth 10b 330 But if it is the second of these, he should be on the 1861 census and I can't see him. So probably the 1856 death.

Had a look on the Index to Death Duty Registers and there is an entry in 1856 for John Allan, Workington - executor C Allan & ano. My John had an unmarried daughter Catherine, so that looks like the right entry.

And I've found a child of John Allan and Anne Blair baptised in Ednam, Roxburgh, in 1812, so my Ann must be Ann Fowler.
