Elizabeth Unknown
Name - "official" name and what they were known as Elizabeth Unknown
Date and place of birth About 1755, don't know where Names of parents Don't know Date and place of baptism - if applicable Not found Details of each of his or her marriages - if any Not found - NOT Elizabeth Day 17 Dec 1789 at Waltham Holy Cross, Essex, to John Horner, as that John was a bachelor and mine would be a widower Occupation(s) - if any Farmer's wife Addresses where they lived (including county if in UK) - and please list which censuses you have or haven't found him/her on (if s/he lived in census times!). 1790 - 1822 Leytonstone / Low Leyton, Essex 1841 census - Vicarage Terrace, Stratford, Essex Date, place and cause of death 28 Jan 1842 at Vicarage Terrace, Stratford, Essex, not got cause. Age 86. Date and place of burial. 8th Feb 1842 All Saints, West Ham, Essex Details of will / administration of their estate - if applicable Admon granted Feb 1842 at London Consistory Court to son William Horner, estate under ?1,000. Memorial inscription - if any Not found. Husband was buried in the vault at the same church, in 1822, so Elizabeth may also have been buried in the vault. Link to daughter's thread: Jane Horner On the 1841 census it says N for born in county but it says the same for Elizabeth's daughter Maria, although Maria was born in Essex, so Elizabeth may well have been born there too. I'm hoping the new Essex Ancestors site will help with this one - if it really does launch on Monday. Last edited by kiterunner; 05-11-11 at 10:40. Reason: found out she wasn't Elizabeth Day |

Thanks, Babs. There are lots of Elizabeth Days and a lot of Essex stuff that isn't online yet, so I'm hoping to look at the marriage register image on Essex Ancestors when it goes live, and also to look for a baptism on there in or near Waltham.

I now think that my Elizabeth probably is Elizabeth Day who married John Horner 17 Dec 1789 at Waltham Holy Cross, although the marriage record does say that John was a bachelor of the parish, because his signature is a very good match for the John Horner who was a witness at the wedding of this John's son John in 1802. Some of the other Waltham Holy Cross marriage entries have bachelor corrected to widower so there could have been a mistake on John Horner's marriage entry which didn't get corrected.
