Armes Percival George – Pt 7757, Norfolk Regiment. Died a prisoner of war in Mesopotamia on May 7, 1916, aged 19, and commemorated on the Basra Memorial (Iraq).

Barks George William  – Lance Corporal 2793  2nd /8th Battalion Sherwood Forresters, Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire Regiment.  Died 26 April 1916 in Dublin during the Irish Rebellion. Buried 3 June 1916 St Giles, Balderton, Nottinghamshire

Barley William Herbert – Lance Corporal  3161 1st/5th Bn Lincolnshire Regiment. Died 13/10/1915

Beams Charles Henry Hector – Battery Serjeant Major 46881, “C” Bty 79th Bde Royal Field Artillery. Killed 19th April 1917. Buried at Faubourg D’Amiens Cemetery, Arras, France.

Beaumont Alfred Ernest – who died in 1930 aged 48, as a result of injuries received from being gassed in the trenches in France 1916-1918.

Beaumont Sydney M.C. – 2nd Lt. – who died aged 38 from wounds in France 28th March 1918.

Bilson Francis Edward – Private in the Sherwood Foresters (Notts and Derby Regiment). Killed 27 Feb 1915 age 19, buried in Estaires communial cemetary.

Bilson Thomas William – Private in the East Lancashire Regiment.  Killed 27 Nov 1917 age 20, commemorated on Tyne Cot Memorial

Birch Jim  – Private 69568, 5th Battalion Tank Corps. Died 16 April 1918 in Belgium. Commemorated on Panel 11, Ploegsteert Memorial, Comines-Warneton, Hainaut, Belgium

Blythe Harry – Private 240653 5th Bn, Suffolk Reg. Died 19 April 1917, Palestine. Commemorated on the Jeruselem Memorial.

Boyle Joseph Wilson – Mercantile Marine – S.S “Cambank”- Killed in action 20th February 1915.

Brenchley Sister Margery – Nurse. One of the New Guinea Martyrs who died about August 1942.

Bristow Robert Salter – Master Mariner, who died when his ship the “Heron” was sunk by a German submarine on the 30th September 1917.

Brittain Charles Alfred – Private 43167, 11th Btn Suffolk Regiment. (volunteer) Killed March 22, 1918, aged 24, and commemorated on the Arras Memorial, Pas de Calais; on the War Memorial in St Margaret’s Church, Lowestoft and on his parents’ grave.

Brittain John Edward – L/Cp 43152, 7th Btn, Suffolk Regiment. (volunteer) Killed October 12, 1916 aged 20, and commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme; on the War Memorial in St Margaret’s Church, Lowestoft and on his parents’ grave.

Buckle Charles – Private 23134, 1st Bn Hampshire Regiment. Killed 4th Oct 1917. Commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Zonnebeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.

Burchill Gregory Brian – Corporal, Gloucester Regiment. Killed 24th April 1951 in Pusan, Korea. Buried at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery, Pusan, Korea.

Clark Clifford Stanley – Lieutenant, 465th Bty 65th Bde, Royal Field Artillery. Died 30th May 1919 in the Army of Occupation, Cologne France. Buried at Cologne Southern Cemetery, Germany.

Cooper Archibald – Private, Middlesex Regiment. 01/07/1916, aged 25. THIEPVAL MEMORIAL

Cosser Albert William – Private 25849, 1st Bn Hampshire Regiment. Killed 21st Dec 1916. Buried at Sailly-Saillisel British Cemetery, Somme, France.

Cox Frank  1886-1917. Frank had emigrated to Australia in 1911 and joined the Australian Light Infantry in 1916. He is buried at the Nine Elms British Cemetery in Belgium.

Crane Francis William – Private 44704, 20th Durham Light Infantry. Died of wounds 25th Nov 1918. Buried at Halle Communal Cemetery, Halle, Vlaams-Brabant, Belgium.

Crane Reginald Hooper – Second Lieutenant, 1st Bn East Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 4th Oct 1917. Commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Zonnebeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.

Dunk Walter – Boy 1st Class, R.N. – who died aged 17 on board HMS Royal Oak, sunk by a German u-boat in Scapa Flow, 14th October 1939.

Dyason Reverdy Cecil – Lance Bombardier 204772, 116th Bty Royal Field Artillery. Killed 19th Sept 1918. Buried at Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille, France.

Eales-White Henry Hewlett – Captain, “B” Coy 6th Bn Royal Scots Fusiliers. Killed 27th Sept 1917. Commemorated on the Loos Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.

Evans Alfred Edward McKenzie – Corporal 5188536, 7th Bn York and Lancaster Regiment. Killed 12th April 1945. Commemorated at the Rangoon Memorial, Burma (Myanmar).

Frankis Edward – Queens Own (Royal West Kent Regiment) who died at the Battle of Loos 8th October 1915.

Gariadi Leslie – Evangelist. One of the New Guinea Martyrs who died about August 1942.

Gill Richard William – 1st Bn. London Regiment (Royal Fusiliers) attd. 167th Coy. Machine Gun. Richard was killed in action in Ypres on the 16th August 1917 aged 19. No known grave. Richard’s memorial is on panel 52 of the Menin Gate.

Goodfellow Ernest – Pte 28455 2nd Bn., Light Infantry Killed in action 19-08-1917. Buried at Cambrin Military Cemetery France.

Gough John – Gunner in the Royal Field Artillary, killed 4 May 1917 age 25, Ficheux France.

Gratton Ernest Walter – Private in The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment) killed 26 April 1945 age 24, Coriano Ridge war cemetary Italy

Harrison Henry Albert – Pioneer 114647, 3rd Labour Bn Royal Engineers. Killed 18th Jan 1916. Buried at Henu Churchyard, Pas de Calais, France.

Harvey Frederick James – Private 10520, 5th Bn Dorsetshire Regiment. Killed 10th Aug 1915. Commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey.

Hayman Sister May – Nurse. One of the New Guinea Martyrs who died about August 1942.

Holland Henry – Priest. One of the New Guinea Martyrs who died about August 1942.

Holman Samson – Corporal 8785, 2nd Bn Hampshire Regiment. Killed 13th July 1916. Commemorated at Thiepval Cememtery, Somme, France

Holmes Albert Lloyd – Private aged 24, 26/11/1918, A D Coy, Machine Gun Corp.

Horne Arthur Richard – Private, Royal Fusiliers, born 17/10/1892 Heston, Middlesex. Killed in action 26/4/1918 and buried at Sandpits cemetery, Bethune, France.

Horniman John Knox Emslie – Flight Sergeant, 759240, Gunner 103 Squadron, RAF Volunteer Reserve. Killed 13th June 1941. Buried at Bergen General Cemetery, Noord-Holland, Netherlands.

Horniman Lancelot Vicary – Lieutenant, 55th Bn Australian Infantry, A.I.F. Killed 1st Sept 1918. Commemorated at Peronne Communal Cemetery, Somme, France.

Horniman Peter John – Pilot Officer 89396, 229 Sqdn Attd 73 Sqdn RAF Volunteer Reserve. Killed 21st Aug 1941. Commemorated on the Alamein Memorial, Egypt.

Hucks Bentfield Charles – RFC who died 7/11/1918 pioneer pilot & founder member of the RAF.

Hughes John – Pte 365543 Northern Cyclists killed in action 08-09-1916 in the area of Loos and Lens France during WW1. He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Loos Memorial Panel 20-22.

Hunter Norman – aged 17yrs lost on a Norwegian Merchant ship WW2

Hurley Roderick (Roddy) – 6th Para Regiment. Killed in action at the Normandy landing on June 6th 1944 aged 19. Buried at Carne Cemetery France.

Hyde John Thomas – 12 Bn Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 26 Nov 1917. Achiet-Le-Grand Communal, Cemetery Extension.

Key Edward Charles Lloyd – MM & Bar, 15th Btn Central Ontario Regt, Canadian Infantry, who was killed 28 September 1918 in France aged just 20 years and 8 days and is buried at Duisans British Cemetery, Etrun.

Lapsley Samuel –  aged 17yrs, killed in WW1 carrying in the wounded, he was reported to be carrying a wounded German when he died.

Lashmar Lilla – teacher. One of the New Guinea Martyrs who died about August 1942.

Lyon-Clark Anthony William Patrick – Captain 184925, 13th/18th Royal Hussars Royal Armoured Corps. Killed 18th July 1944. Buried at Renville War Cemetery, Calvados, France.

Lyon-Clark Basil – Captain, 3rd/3rd Bn King’s African Rifles. Killed 9th July 1917. Commemorated at the Dar es Salaam War Cemetery, Tanzania.

Lyons Gerald – died 21st June 1943 at a naval hospital in Glasgow

McMillan George – Private, 8204, 1st/5th Bn., Royal Scots Fusiliers, killed in action on the 20th December 1915 aged 19 years on the Gallipoli Peninsula, buried in Twelve Tree Copse Cemetery, ref II B 6. He stayed at the Burn and was a cousin of James McMillan below.

McMillan James, DCM  – Sergt., 7661, 2nd Bn., Royal Scots Fusiliers, killed in action on 1st July 1916 on the 1st day of the Battle of the Somme aged 30 years James has no known grave but is remembered on the Thiepval Memorial, Pier and Face 3C. He lived in Burnview Cottage, New Cumnock Ayrshire.

Madell Percival Arthur Louis – Private 2479, 1st/15th Bn London Regiment (Prince of Wales’ Own Civil Service Rifles). Killed 25th May 1915. Commemorated on the Touret Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.

Margerum Percival Victor  – 1894 – 1915, Dardenelles, Gallipoli.

Markham David Robinson – Rank: Private. Death Date: 21 Apr 1917. Death Location: France & Flanders. Regiment: Alexandra, Princess of Wales’s Own (Yorkshire Regiment). Battalion: 4th Battalion
Number: 202957. Type of Casualty: Killed in action.

Moore Richard William George – Flight Lieutenant Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. 20/10/1943 aged 21. BERLIN 1939-1945 WAR CEMETERY

New Athelstan William – Captain, 4th/1st Bn Essex Regiment. Killed 5th May 1918. Buried at Bagneux British Cemetery, Gezaincourt, France

New Hedley Bruce – Lieutenant 3rd Sqdn Royal Flying Corps. Killed 13th Oct 1917. Commemorated on the Arras Flying Services Memorial, Pas de Calais, France.

Norman John William Henry  – Private 1/5th Lincolnshire Regiment who died from wounds received in battle 19 June 1917 aged 21.

Oakes Edward – aged 22 , Sgt RAF, 78 Squadron, died 16/5/1941 – Jonkerbos War Cemetery.

Oakes William Daniel – aged 36 Lost at sea on the Montevideo Maru 1st July 1942 off the coast of Australia. Elder brother of Edward. On hearing of William Daniel’s death their sister Frances had a heart attack and died aged 32. Their parents, Daniel and Lucy Oakes, lost their only 3 children in 13 months RIP

Parkinson Mavis – teacher. One of the New Guinea Martyrs who died about August 1942.

Peter Carl Frederick – HMT Nigeria – 9th March 1917 (while serving as an accommodation ship was extensively damaged at Murmansk when a fire broke out aboard her)

Phillips Frank – Rifleman, 13th Bn Rifle Brigade, killed in action in France in September 1918 aged only 20. Buried at Hermies Hill Cemetery and commemorated on the memorial in Leicester Cathedral.

De Plus Jacques  – Ltn, born 1917 died 15 March 1945 FFAF

Polley James – 23rd October 1916 aged 27, at the Battle of the Somme.

Poole Richard – Pte 8309 1st Bn., King’s Own (Royal Lancaster Regiment) Killied in action 20-10-1914 He has no known grave but is commemorated on the Ploegsteert Memorial, Belgium.

Reader Charles – Private aged 23, 30/12/1917 of the 13th Kensington Bn, London Regiment.

Redlich Vivian – Priest. One of the New Guinea Martyrs who died about August 1942.

Renyard Ernest Seward – Private 8623, 2nd Bn Hampshire Regiment. Killed 6th Aug 1915 at Gallipoli. Buried at Twelve Tree Copse Cemetery, Turkey.

Robotham Caesar – Rifleman in the King’s Royal Rifle Corps, killed 21 March 1918 age 26, commemorated on Pozieres memorial.

Rust Edgar  – Bombadier 37785, Royal Horse Artillery. Died 19 May 1915 in Alexandria, Egypt.  Buried Alexandria (Chatby) Military and War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt

Saynor Ernest – Gunner 760969 “X” 50th T>M> Bty., Royal Field Artillery Killed in Action 27-05-1918 He is commemorated at St Erme Communal Cemetery Extention France.

Seldon John Boucher – 1st Btn Royal Welsh Fusiliers, killed 20 October 1914, aged 20, in Belgium and commemorated on the Menin Gate memorial.

Seldon Joseph Spiller – MM, 2nd Btn Devonshire Regt, killed at the Somme on 24 April 1918 aged 31, and buried at Adelaide Cemetery Villers-Bretonneux.

Sharratt Herbert  – Private 4469, 1st/6th Battalion North Staffordshire Regiment. Died 1 July 1916 on the first day of The Battle of The Somme. Commemorated Thiepval Memorial, The Somme, France Pier Face 14b and 14c also War Memorial in Anslow Churchyard, Staffordshire

Smith Charles – Private  19819, 7th Bn., King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry who died 07 October 1916, Thiepval memorial

Smith Harry – Missing, presumed dead 10th April 1918, during the 4th Battle of Ypres, aged 20 years and who is remembered on the Ploegsteert Memorial for the Missing.

Smith WT – Private 17624, 9th Bn., King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry who died  26 September 1916, Guards’ cemetery, Lesboeufs

Smith Walter Wright – Private  1487 1st/5th Bn East Yorkshire Regiment who died 18/8/1916.

Stack Michael – L/CPL The Royal Munster Fusiliers killed in action July 1916.

Stanbridge Francis  – Private S/11046, 1st Battalion Gordon Highlanders (He joined the North Staffs Regiment in Feb 1912 (Private 1738) and was discharged as being medically unfit in Sep 1914.)  Died 2 March 1916 in Flanders. No Known Grave. Commemorated on Ypres Memorial (Menim Gate) Panel 38, Edinburgh Castle and St Mary and St Modwen RC Church, Burton on Trent, Staffordshire.

Tapiedi Lucian – Teacher. One of the New Guinea Martyrs who died about August 1942.

Tomlinson Peter – Gunner in the Royal Australian Artillery, killed 24 Feb 1947 age 24, Nagata Japan

Vickers Charles Jesse Woodthorp – Private G/44133, 23rd Bn London Regiment. Killed 2nd Sept 1918. Commemorated at Wulverghem-Lindenhoek Road Military Cemetery, Heuvelland, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.

Walker Stephen – 2nd Lieutenant Royal Air Force. Died 14th May 1918 in a training accident. Buried at the Friends’ Burial Ground, Saffron Walden, Essex.

Weeding Archibald Gilbert – Private 3262, 3rd Bn Australian Infantry, A.I.F. Killed 4th Oct 1917. Commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Zonnebeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.

Whelan Leonard Harrison – Private S/19465, 11th Bn Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. Killed 22nd Aug 1917. Commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Zonnebeke, West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
