Default Thomas Eason

I have been transcribing a will from 1776 which stipulates:

"Also I order and direct to give unto Mrs Susannah Gwynn of the Town of Neath Mr Thomas Eason of the City of Bristol and to each of his children a Mourning Ring a peice"

This will is a breakthrough for me, as it involves a Chancery Case.

Briefly, Anne Evans inherited lands, messuages etc. I didn't know how she inherited. She had 3 sisters - Susannah (OH's ancestor), Mary and Jemima.
Anne marrried William Bassett. She died without issue. He promptly remarried. He died. His widow took over the inheritance. Susannah, Mary, Jemima and their husbands and also William Bassett's brother contested the will.

Thanks to a contact, I have discovered that Anne Evans inherited from her aunt Sarah Powell. I found the will on documents on line and I have just finished transcribing it.

My question is:

Who is Thomas Eason? (It might also be useful to know who Susannah Gwynn is!)

The reason I ask re. Thomas is that Susannah Evans married William Lamb of Huntingdon. They had four chidlren. One son, Richard Richman Lamb, named a son William Eason Lamb. I am expecting a marriage involving an Evans and an Eason, perhaps!

For the record, I still don't know the parents of the four Evans girls. I don't know to which side of the family Sarah Powell is related, and whether she is a blood relation or through marriage.

Sorry it's so complicated!

Lol, Julie! We have the happy couple staying with us this weekend, but they are not up properly yet so I have the opportunity to look at this, as I'm very impatient when it comes to family history!

Sorry, Elizabeth, I've read through your post a few times and I may have missed something, but whose will is it, please?

Isn't it Sarah Powell's will?

Sorry if it's not clear - yes, it is Sarah Powell's will.

She was Anne Evan's aunt, and therefore the aunt of OH's 4x great-grandmother Susannah Evans, married surname Lamb.

Merry, she was a widow when she made her will. I assume she was childless.

I'm hoping this might be her husband:

Will of Richard Powell , Gentleman of Neath 04 November 1760

She made her will in 1766, which would tie in.

Richard Powell's will is on documents on line at the National Archives.

I must download it, but I might wait a week because even at £3.50 OH will have apoplexy this month if I add anything else as we have a lot of wedding expenditure at present!

Have you got an age at death for either Sarah or Richard, Elizabeth?
