I have now found an extra sibling, Ann, thanks to my contact in New Zealand who has given me access to numerous letters and photos.

The letters refer to "Auntie" and then "Aunt Davidson", who turns out to be Anne Johnston who married George Davidson in 1843 in Banchory Devenick!
