Knowledge of Northamptonshire needed!
In Yardley Hastings in 1841 there are 5 adult John Underwoods.
Charles Underwood, bp 1817, son of John (aged 50) and Mary, appears to be living next door to his parents, who are on the previous page: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interacti...14/edit/record There is also John Underwood (aged 40) His daughter Bertha was baptised 2 Nov 1828, mother Mary: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interacti...nSearchResults So there are two John Underwoods in 1841 who had both married a woman called Mary. As Charles was born in 1817, I assume(!) his parents were married, and that this is the marriage of Bertha's parents: John to Mary Johnson in 1821 https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interacti...01392465_00024 tbc

A THIRD John Underwood is aged 35 in 1841, and married to Lucy.
In 1871 he says he is aged 66 and born in Gretton, Nr Rockingham. He too is a son of John and Mary, the only Underwood born in that parish, bp 24 April 1807: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interacti...&usePUBJs=true There is this marriage of John Underwood to Mary Sanders in 1805 in Finedon: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interacti...=successSource Unfortunately it is a bt, so I don't know if he was of that parish. But there is this burial of John Sanders Underwood in 1882, aged 74 in Yardley Hastings: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/interacti...&usePUBJs=true tbc

So, I suggest that
John marries Mary Sanders in 1805 in Finedon John Sanders is bp 1807 in Gretton They move to Yardley Hastings where Charles is bp 1817 and Charles has a son Sanders. Do you reckon that's feasible.

Note that there are also James b 1810 and William b 1812 bp in Yardley Hastings, also children of John and Mary, presumably part of the same family.
Charles has a brother George bp 1820

Yardley Hastings and Grendon are very close to each other (a couple of miles). Finedon a bit further away (about 10 miles).

There don't seem to be any children of John and Mary Underwood baptised in Finedon after that 1805 marriage, only of William and Frances. So it fits that John and Mary moved away.

A John and a Mary are buried in Yardley Hastings in the 1840s, making their dates of birth c 1779 and 1781 respectively. That again fits with a marriage in 1805. Re the BTs, I'd just like to see the actual register and the banns as you sometimes get more detail.

Oops sorry, I thought it was Grendon! I suppose it's what you get if you merge Gretton with Finedon!

Lol!
I'm used to big coastal counties. So many different counties border Northamptonshire that families could as easily move across borders as up and down a road. And I have no idea what was "normal" for labourers when they moved.
