Default Merchant seaman

Can't remember where to look to find whether a 12 yrs old lad who ran off to sea c1871 is registered.

Please can someone point me in the right direction

They wouldn't be registered at that time, unfortunately, Julie. There are some crew lists on findmypast and ancestry that you could try:

There could well be a couple of entries on fmp but not on ancestry unfortunately. Also he uses 2 surnames so will have to see which is most likely.
