So, in 1901 he is 38 born Alverthorpe Yorkshire. In 1891 he is age 29 born Allthorpe, with this family next door:
Jas Taylor Head Mar 64 General Laborer Staffs Brierly Hill Sarah Taylor Wife Mar 66 Hereford Lemester(?) Ernest Taylor Son Single 19 Labourer Yorks N Ormesby John Taylor Son Single 15 Do Do Lizzie Carless Granddaughter 12 Scholar do do The one you've found in 1881 is 22 born Dudley Worcestershire, relation of Caleb Taylor 28 born Dudley Worcestershire. Could be your William but we need more evidence. What details does your William give on his marriage certificate, age, address, occupation father's name and occupation? And what info on the 1911 census? |

No idea as I can't face typing in all those refs, but have you got his marriage cert for father's details and what (if anything) have you found on the 1871?

There seem to be quite a few William Taylors born in Dudley around the right time but if that one on the 1881 census is yours, he says he is 22 so he would be born a couple of years earlier than the birth you found, if his age is right on that census of course.

So that James Taylor family next door in 1891 is probably unrelated.
