After his death, his occupation was given on his children's marriages certs as gardener, farmer or bailiff. Addresses where they lived (including county if in UK) 1813: Mancetter, Warwickshire 1814: Weston on Trent, Staffordshire 1815: Baxterley, Warwickshire 1817: Stafford, Staffordshire 1818: Wilnecote/Dosthill, Warwickshire 1820: Wilnecote/Dosthill, Warwickshire 1823: Wilnecote, Warwickshire Date, place and cause of death Died Dosthill, Warwickshire, in 1827, aged 46. Date and place of burial Buried 27 Sep 1827 at St. Michael's Church, Lichfield, Staffordshire Details of will / administration of their estate - if applicable None found Memorial inscription - if any Not known John was the father of my GG-grandfather Thomas Mallet. According to Thomas's baptism, at Tamworth, Staffordshire on 27 December 1818, his parents were James and Mary Anne Mallet of Wilnecote, but I think the name James must be a mistake, because according to our Mallet family bible, Thomas was born on 6/12/1818, the son of John Mallet of Dostol (Dosthill is a village adjacent to Wilnecote), and his father is named as John Mallet, farmer, on his marriage certificate. I've never found a baptism for John; the information I have about him is pieced together from family wills. 3 of his siblings (I haven't found the others) were baptised at Weeford, near Lichfield. The Weeford baptism register is in poor condition, and John's baptism may be one of the many illegible entries. Dosthill, Wilnecote and Tamworth are on the border of Warwickshire and Staffordshire, and were in both counties at different times. Last edited by Mary from Italy; 10-02-16 at 14:21. |
