What is the occupation?
Ashley Cooper, son of Ashley and Mary Elizabeth Cooper was bp in September 1808.
His entry is on the left hand side of the page, the second entry above the first line that goes across the page: https://www.ancestry.co.uk/imageview...?pId=301049538 Understandably, Ancestry could not read his name or that of his father. Can anyone make a stab at the father's occupation?

I can't make it out, sorry.

Me neither. After a bit of squinting I wanted it to say Colourman, but that's very much just a figment of my imagination.

Thanks for trying, Kite.
I know what I want it to be, but events were cascading down on the little family. They moved to Norfolk, were removed to Walpole St Peter, and in less than five months father and son were both dead, while poor Mary Elizabeth lived out her days, separated from any of her own family and friends, in rural Norfolk.

Not sure if I'm looking at the entry you want but I think the second entry on the left hand side is a brush maker. The one beneath that one could be a cab man.
Pat Just looked again and I think you should ignore what I have written above as that is for the first of the August Baptisms. Last edited by Elderflower; 14-04-24 at 23:07. Reason: Had another look |

If it helps...
I think I'm probably halluciinating, but do you have any reason for a cordwainer on your tree, Julie? |

Ooh, thanks, Janet. It wasn't exactly what I was looking for, but I wonder if it's coachsmith?

I was about to say cordwainer too, but I'm not absolutely sure.

Might be. Or even wheelwright? Hard to be sure, though.
