Have I gone wrong??
I got all excited because I found a will for my 7xg-grandfather, Thomas Brook(e)s of Croxton Cambs.
The will was proved in 1691 and I read it through quickly and thought it said he was giving various children £5 each. However, now I've gone back to transcribe it properly I see he's given three sons £500 each and three daughters £300 each! Now I'm wondering if I've gone wrong as though this branch were yeoman farmers and the like, I doubt there was that amount of money to throw about. *sigh* I don't really know what to do now.
