I am not of this branch. The predicted ancestor in common for 13 Ayling testers, origins all over West Sussex) is Thomas Aylyng residing in Easebourne in 1381AD. His descendants branched off east and west, to Stedham and Tillington. This is mirrored in the genetics, with a branching between YDNA testers with ancestry concentrated in those two locations. I am of the Tillington branch.

Hi Chris,

As you know, if she comes from the Stedham line then we are distantly related. My 6x-great-grandfather Thomas Ayling (c. 1689 - 1759) was from this line.

How is the DNA testing going?
