I have recently found that I think the parents of Thomas Collis as listed maybe wrong.
The more likely baptism seems to be Thomas Collis baptised 15 Jun 1725 in Sparsholt Hampshire to Thomas and Sarah Collis. This makes a lot of things more logical, such as household in Sherfield upon Loddon and his burial in Sparsholt. This also makes his age at marriage and death more in keeping with the rest of the family. Also his sister Mary Collis, b 1723 Sparsholt, may have married Henry Gilbert at Sparsholt and there is a good possibility that their children, Thomas Collis and Elizabeth Gilbert married each other. I was actually looking for Elizabeth Gilbert's baptism but when I found her parents marriage as well, bells started ringing and I took a long second look at the Collis family in the 18th century. I suspect that the Thomas Collis, the son of Edward Collis and Sarah Nash may have married Alice Gardener in 1760. Diane |
