Birth registration Ireland - armed forces

Charles H Godwin is with his mother and siblings on the 1901 Census at Shorncliffe Camp in Kent. His father Benjamin James Godwin was a soldier.

It states he was born in Ireland c. 1896.

His brother James and sister Blanche appear in the British Armed Forces and Overseas Births and Baptisms but there is no sign of Charles.

The 1911 Census suggests he has died:

I have searched Irish records and there are Godwin/Goodwin births at the right time but not the correct family.

It's odd I can't find his birth registration. I haven't found his death yet either.

Do you have his parents' marriage? They are clearly pushing the case that the eldest daughter is legitimate, but is it possible that she and Charles were born before the marriage? Do you know where she was in 1901?

Benjamin James Godwin and Anna Corlett married on the Isle of Man in 1890.
In 1891 Annie (Anna) was with her parents on the Isle of Man with baby daughter Annie Ruth Godwin.

The 1911 census says 6 children living but there are only 5 with them, so Charles could be the other one who is still living, unless you know there was another one?

Is James definitely a different person from Charles, Elizabeth?

They had 8 children and 3 are missing.

James Henry was in the army.
I assume Charles had died.
There was another child but I have no record. As Benjamin was in the army it would be hard to find a birth, especially if the child was born and died between censues.

James Henry Godwin died in WWI in 1915.

I've concluded that Chas H and James Henry are one and the same.

From Benjamin James Godwin's service record he lists his children (he mentions six) with their birth dates.

James Henry was born in Dublin on 18th August 1895.

I'm still bemused by the 1911 Census where the couple states there were 8 children, two of whom are now dead.
