In 1901 James is with his parents, James (engine winder) and Sarah in Pemberton.

Their eldest child is Agnes aged 21.

Back to 1881:

Agnes aged 1 is with the same parents. Their only child at this point.

RYLANCE, AGNES FAWKES
GRO Reference: 1879 D Quarter in WIGAN Volume 08C Page 125

RYLANCE, JAMES FAWKES
GRO Reference: 1884 M Quarter in WIGAN Volume 08C Page 115

James Rylance (engine winder, bachelor) b abt 1858 m 29 Sep 1879 Pemberton, St John The Divine to Sarah Fawkes. Fathers, James Rylance and Benjamin Fawkes (shoemaker).

I'm not too sure of James senrs occupation on the marriage cert, which could be crucial as there's more than one James born about the same time in a similar area with father James. I did notice one of them has a mother Agnes though, so I'm more drawn to that James.

Maybe someone else could look at James senr's occ?

Lan-opc has trascribed it as Dataler which was something to do with coalmining.

Could be that. I'd never heard of that word before.
