I was trying to find out where he lived between 1861 and 1871, and came across this, which I had never seen before:

London Gazette 13 Oct 1865
John Bristow, of No 201, Hampstead-road, in the county of Middlesex, formerly of No 95, East-lane, Bermondsey, then of No 57, Gainsford-street, Horsleydown, both in the county of Surrey, then of Elmer's End, Beckenham, in the county of Kent, Cooper's Clerk and Dealer in Oil, late in the custody of the Sheriff of Surrey, at No. 57, George-street, Blackfriars-road, in the said county of Surrey, and now a Prisoner for Debt in Horsemonger-lane Gaol, having been adjudged bankrupt under a Petition for adjudication of Bankruptcy, filed in Her Majesty's Court of Bankruptcy, in London, on the 10th day of October, 1865, is hereby required to surrender himself to William Hazlitt, Esq, a Registrar of the said Court, at the first meeting of creditors to be held before the said Registrar, on the 31st day of October instant, at twelve o'clock at noon precisely, at the said Court. Mr George John Graham, of No 25, Coleman-street, London, is the Official Assignee, and Mr J B Sorrell, of No 63, Great Dartford-street, London, is the Solicitor acting in the bankruptcy.

This could explain a lot about the Bristow family! I will search through for further info.

Is this will related to this family?

I see it is Southwark, so probably not.

Yes, that's his great-uncle, who was going to leave him £200 but reduced it to £100 in a codicil. I think he realised that all his bequests came to more than he had to leave.
