Default Scotland's People

I haven't used Scotland's People much since the revamp, I don't like it by the way. I think it is rubbish now in the same way I do not like FMP either.

But I am sure on the old site you could put mother's maiden name for births or am I going mad, because you can't now it is so frustrating.

Do you mean the "Statutory Registers", Maggie? I don't think it ever let you put MMN in for those, but the OPR Births search did used to let you search by "parent name" and that doesn't seem to be in the new search. Going through my saved searches, the OPR Birth searches on there show Parent Name boxes (though they never seem to be filled in) but the Statutory Birth searches don't.

The Statutory Registers Death search does have a box for MMN though; is that maybe what you were thinking of?

Yes you are probably right.

Wouldn't it be nice if MMN was transcibed and searchable though.
