Yorkshire family has 6 generations alive at the same time
A family from West Yorkshire is believed to be the first in Britain to have six generations alive at the same time.
The Hanson family from Bradford has 44 living members ranging from the oldest, aged 103, to the most recent arrival, born on Christmas Day. https://www.theguardian.com/lifeands...laim-uk-record |

Should we check this one out?!
Cornishman 10 January 1923 The Death has occurred at Ide Hill, near Sevenoaks, Kent, of Mrs. Eliza Sutton, at the age of 104........There are six generations of her family alive. Her husband died 14 years ago at the age of 87. I presume the six generations would include Eliza, so that should probably say "five generations of her family alive". Hmm....104?? Deaths Mar 1923** SUTTON Eliza 100 Sevenoaks 2a 926

The world record is seven generations, apparently.
The youngest great-great-great-great-grandparent being Augusta Bunge (USA) aged 109 years 97 days, followed by her daughter aged 89, her grand-daughter aged 70, her great-grand-daughter aged 52, her great-great grand-daughter aged 33 and her great-great-great grand-daughter aged 15 on the birth of her great-great-great-great grandson on 21 January 1989. |

The oldest person on my tree (d 1900) had only one living child at her death, four living grandchildren one of whom was under a year old and three living great grandchildren!
I did find two Victorian headlines about six generation families, one where when I read the article there were only five generations mentioned (in the US) and the other was an aristocratic line that appeared to be complete fabrication, as far as I could tell. For me a potentially more interesting statistic which I saw come up in the papers a few times when I was looking for other six generation families, is where individuals have known a large number of generations of their family. So, if you have known your great grandparents (or one of them!) and then you become a great-grandparent yourself you will have known six other generations of your family (if you ever met all these people, of course!)

I can only claim to have known one great grandparent which is pretty pathetic.
If we could shift the goalposts a bit, lol, my 3 xx ggf born in 1797 left 200 pounds in his will to his youngest granddaughter. She in turn left me 200 pounds and I am just about to buy my youngest granddaughter 200 pounds worth of premium bonds, thus linking 1797 to 2017! OC |

I can only claim to have known one grandparent which is even more pathetic! lol I would have to have been born 25 years earlier to overlap with even one great grandparent.

Eliza Sutton's maiden name seems to have been Vine, but I can't find her marriage to George Sutton and not sure which of their children are hers to check whether there were really 6 generations of her actual family when she died:
