Default William Steel(e) MMFFF

Probably William & Mary Steel who had daughters at Iping called Lucy and Frances (a Lucy Steel was a witness at William's marriage). William had daughters and granddaughters called Lucy and Frances.

1861: Sub postmaster (blind)
1863: Miller (son George’s marriage cert)
1866: postmaster (son James’s marriage cert)
1870: death cert “Formerly a Miller’s labourer”
1900: widow’s death cert has him as a postman (she took over as sub-postmistress for a while)
I think that "blind" must have referred to some form of visual handicap rather than full blindness.

I have today had a message from a new member descended from William's son Stephen ten years after I first posted this information, which proves the value of this forum's "Take one" initiative

I also have DNA matches with four descendants of his son William, one via his son George, one via daughter Lucy, and two via son James.
