Ancestry Protools Offer
Ancestry are offering a 6 month pro tools sub for £24.99 until the 20th of January. Renewal price at the end of the 6 month is £35.99.
If you currently have protools sub running and take out the £24.99 deal they will give a pro rata refund on the current active subscription. |

Hmm, my ProTools sub is £4.99 per month so the offer would give me a saving, but then after the 6 months it would cost me more per month than it does now.

My first one was £4.99 but I cancelled the renewal and it's been £7.99 since. There is a one month offer of £5.59 and renewal at £7.99 per month thereafter.

They appear to be fishing for a sustainable price point:

Well, I jumped... and will be jumping out as soon as I can.
It feels like the very old days of spreadsheets, where there just wasn't room to add all the columns you need. It would only be valuable if you could readily apply a grouping to a list of matches. And I can't. And now that they have made the colour codes big and clunky, you can't see so many of them. All Protools seems usefully to tell me is if someone has persuaded their entire family to get tested.

One advantage is that if that someone you're interested in doesn't have a tree online, one of their relatives may do.

That's true, but the first thing I did when I had my DNA done was go through ALL my then matches. Right down to the 6cM matches which were then available. So I have already picked up most of the links.
I've looked at some 60odd matches in depth so far and haven't pulled out any plums yet.
