Also, given that there is a DNA link to Josiah Bright, it seems that he really was George's father.

I have had a look through London marriages from 1837 to 1857 for those with a father named William Doughty, wire drawer, and I found a William Doughty, full age, widower, cabinet maker, who married a Mary Tunnell in 1857 in Croydon. On the 1861 census he is age 63, a chair maker, born Clerkenwell, and on the 1851 census his birthplace is Marylebone. On the 1841 census he is age 43, a chairman, born in Surrey. So not very clear on his birthplace - I was hoping to find his baptism to see whether he had a sister called Elizabeth. I did look at a few possible baptisms for him but none of them had father's occupation.

However, there is a baptism which fits with the 1861 census info: 6 Feb 1798 St James Clerkenwell, William Doughty, son of William and Hannah. And there is an Elizabeth, daughter of William and Hannah, baptised 6 Oct 1799 at St Luke Finsbury (the one in your post #25). Also Mary Ann 20 Jun 1802, Sarah Charlotte 29 Jan 1804, and George Edward 3 Aug 1806, all at St Luke Finsbury. Hannah Doughty buried 26 Jul 1812 St Luke Finsbury, age 44, abode James Street.
