I have quite a few very low matches on my paternal side but they link to my maternal half cousins thanks to multiple marriages for some of my pedigree maternal ancestors. The 'both sides' doesn't impact me as I descend from the wrong marriage. It's not that surprising really given the number of individuals and marriages over the 5-6 generations involved.
