So I have put this lot somewhere online and don't lose it among my notes!

I haven't found a baptism for Esther in the new Welsh parish registers on Findmypast (yet) but have found this possible family for her. The PR's don't show father's occupation, so I don't know whether this William is a carpenter.

Baptisms at Llanspyddid (Llansbyddyd on FMP):
Cecilia 22 Nov 1795
Margaret 29 Jul 1798
Mary 31 May 1801
William 4 Sep 1803
Thomas 28 Dec 1806
Jennet 1 Apr 1810

All children of William Williams and his wife Jennet.
William Williams married Jennet Williams 5 Dec 1794 Llanspyddid, both of the parish.

My Esther's children were called William, David, Ann, Morgan, Jennet, Margaret, and Esther. Morgan, Ann and David are names from Esther's husband's family, so I might expect the other names to come from Esther's family and they do fit nicely. But of course they are all pretty common names. I'm thinking if I can trace some of Esther's possible brothers and sisters forwards and find their marriages I can see if they say William was a carpenter. But it isn't very easy on findmypast as you can't do a parent search. Will have a go, anyway. Oh, except they will probably all have got married before 1837! Bother!

Possible marriage for Cecilia - Llanspyddid 13 Jun 1822 Cecilia Williams of the parish of Devynnock married David Powell of Llanspyddid, carpenter, witnesses Catherine Bailey and John Morgan. Possible marriage for Margaret, also at Llanspyddid - Margaret Williams of Llanspyddid married Jephthah Prosser, labourer, 16 Nov 1824, witnesses William Williams and John Morgan. Can't see any likely marriages at Llanthetty.

Possible burial for William Williams - 21 Nov 1846 Llanspyddid, age 82, abode Llanvace (= Llanvaes?)
Possible burial for Jennet Williams - 30 Jul 1862 Llanspyddid age 95, abode Ffrwdgrech St Davids.

I found this census entry for 1841 - Ship Street, Market Street, St John Chapelry of St Mary, Brecon
Jennett Williams 75 Y
Margaret Do 45 Y
William Williams 35 Carpenter Y
Ann Do 40 N
Robert Thomas 11 N
William Williams 5 Y
Ann Thomas 2? Y

And in 1851, at Market Street, Brecon St Mary:
William Williams Head M 49 Carpenter Breconsh Brecon
Ann Do Wife M 52 Laundress Somersetsh Butleigh
James Thomas Stepson U 24 Groom Glam Merthyr
William Williams Son U 14 Scholar Breconsh Brecon
Philip Do Son 7 Do Do Do
Margaret Griffiths servant.

I'm thinking this could be Esther's brother, with their mother in 1841. In which case it looks likely that their sister Margaret isn't the one who married Jephthah Prosser. Also, William senior probably isn't the one who died in 1846. I like the possible brother's occupation but his birthplace is Brecon instead of Llanspyddid. All a bit tenuous so far!
