Default Programme on BBC2 about coastal villages - Robin Hood's Bay

We stumbled upon this when eating our supper and I'm so glad we did.

This was a fishing and smuggling community and OH has a connection. His great-grandparents were William Henry Lamb, a tobacconist from Whitby, and his wife Elizabeth. maiden name Kingston.

William died in 1881 and Elizabeth married a John Harrison Storm from Robin Hood's Bay in 1887. He was a widower with children.

The programme recounted the fishing and smuggling exploits and went on to discuss some of the local families, mentioning the Storms in a little detail and showing some documents.

John Harrison Storm died in 1898 and Elizabeth survived until 1922 at the age of 82. OH's grandfather was her only surviving child as his sister Sarah died in infancy.

I wonder which village will be featured next week. BBC2 Saturday 6-6.30 pm.
