Okay, the transcription of the Bodmin Gaol records on Ancestry for Julia say "Admitted with base child." So James did actually go to gaol with her.

Wow! Every day's a schoolday, as they say. I'm torn between thinking how kind they were to keep mother and child together or how cruel they were to subject a small child to such privations.

I do like Zoe Ball and it was nice to see Johnny too. Happy memories of watching Playschool with my daughter in the 1970s!

Maybe Julia's sisters didn’t want anything to do with her after the assault. I can't remember if anything was said about it being a first offence or not. Much was made of her getting a stiffer sentence than someone else for the same offence because she had an illegitimate child but also maybe it wasn't the first time Julia had assaulted someone.

I like Zoe a lot. I found the programme more interesting than many from the last series. I don't remember seeing jail records before on WDYTYA.

Zoe was very engaged and interested and I love her Dad as well but wonder why she didn't see her Mum for 14 years.

And it continues. It would appear, at least according to the popular press, that Nelly is now living with her Dad because Zoë has yet another partner.
