OH is an identical twin.
To complicate matters, OH's twin's daughter married a younger brother. Our daughter married the elder brother.. The son of OH's twin has tested and his results have appeared on Ancestry. He is obviously our daughters' cousin, but it is more complicated than that. His DNA match with our daughter is showing as half-brother or uncle. OH's twin is married to an identical twin. If OH had married his sister-in-law's twin it would be even more complicated!

Yes, Ancestry DNA tests (and similar) will treat identical twins' DNA as identical and so their descendants' DNA matches with each other will work out as though they were all descended from the same person.

Kate, I'd be interested to see the DNA matches between our granddaughters and their female cousins as their fathers are brothers.

There are a few family jokes about this, OC! Our daughter met her future husband at the wedding of her cousin to his younger brother. Said cousin is the daughter of OH's twin brother.

Tut, Janet! The best amateur genealogists have a ready supply of envelopes and coloured pens.

I've been teasing OH and told him he has a DNA match who is his son.
He looked rather puzzled for a while until I explained. His nephew has tested and the relationship is showing as son-father. |
