1647 baptism - help needed!
I've been puzzling over a transcription of this record in Letcombe Regis, Berkshire for years. The original record hasn't helped! Can anyone read the name of Lawrence Sidwell's mother? FMP and Berkshire FHS have transcribed it as Jackaman, Ancestry as Furbaman. Any ideas? It's the last entry in 1647

Thanks, Kate. It's not a name I'd heard of but there do seem to be some records of Jacomine and its variations but no marriage that I can see to a Thomas Sidwell.

Maybe a stretch too far, but I immediately thought of a local factory (now gone) called Jaqueman(d) which was always pronounced as Jackaman.
