Name - "official" name and what they were known as

The only likely Robert Fossey marriage is to Sarah Green, 10 Oct 1783 at St Dunstan Stepney, but there are big gaps between possible children (more details on TOGG3 for daughter Sarah Fossey).
Occupation(s) - if any
Weaver (from daughter Sarah's 2nd marriage certificate)
Addresses where they lived (including county if in UK) - and please list which censuses you have or haven't found him/her on (if s/he lived in census times!).

Have you considered that he might be of Huguenot extraction? I've had a look on the CD that I have of Huguenot records for that area and there are several entries for Fosse - stick an accent on that and becomes Fossey in English! Sadly none of the entries were for Robert but my disc is far from comprehensive. Perhaps Richard could have a look if you think it's worthwhile.

Thanks for looking for Robert. I was always told there were Huguenots in the family but despite several possibly-French names amongst my silk weavers I've never found any evidence.

Fossey is certainly one of the names that could be French - something to bear in mind.
