Default James Harding MMFMMF

mother's mother's father's mother's mother's father

Name - "official" name and what they were known as
James Harding

Date and place of birth
c. 1775 at Frensham according to census

Names of parents
I haven't been able to find a baptism for James.

However, James Harding is said by Greta A. Turner in her book “Shottermill – Its Farms, Families and Mills – Part 1 – Early Times to the 1700s” to be the son of Stephen Harding.

Harding’s Cottage – lately the site of the Shottermill St. Post Office
The other part of the land sold by George Marden in 1799 to Stephen Harding was further up the hill but below Brookbank, and in 1805 Stephen left this cottage to his son James who was later a carpenter and timber dealer on Lion Green where he owned and lived in a house on the SE corner”.

An HRO reference has been given but I can't find it in the CALM catalogue, so I have e-mail the archives to ask if they have a record of it.

Edit: Parents were Stephen Harding and his wife Catherine (maiden named Hussey).
