From post #10:
Alfred Samuel Holland, baptised 11 Dec 1881. Birth registered as Hollond, Oct-Dec 1881 Shoreditch. Emily Mary Ann Holland Jan-Mar 1884 Shoreditch (baptised as Charlotte Mary Ann) William Alfred Holland Jan-Mar 1886 Shoreditch Henry Holland Apr-Jun 1888 Shoreditch From post #13: Emily Holland appears in the London school records on Ancestry, being admitted to Curtain Road School, Hackney, on the 7th Sep 1891, so I was hoping that would lead to finding the family on the 1891 census but the address (13 Norfolk Gardens) is that of Thirza's sister Julia and none of the Hollands are with her on the census. Emily's dob is given as 26/8/83 but that doesn't fit very well with when her birth was registered. Oh, but I just noticed she was baptised in Sep 1883 so I guess she was just registered late - but her dob on her baptism is 19/8/83. If you got the Holland birth certificates, you would have their dates of birth to compare with school records, 1939 Register, etc., though I don't know whether any of them would have the same date of birth from one record to the next!

This must be Alfred William Holland on the 1871 census:
https://www.ancestry.co.uk/discovery.../11998999:7619 Age 18, a carman, born London. On the 1861 census his birthplace is Bishopsgate. So maybe we can find out what happened to him later from that.

I haven't found out what happened to Alfred, but of course it's difficult to prove that William Williams didn't exist in earlier censuses etc because it is such a common name. But on the 1901 census William is 44 whereas Alfred would have been about 48. Of course that doesn't mean it isn't Alfred. William's birthplace on the 1901 census is Spitalfields.

Hi Gemma Collins fans.
I checked the London Electoral Registers database on ancestry. 2A Georges Square, Hoxton Thirza Williams 1920-1939 Holland [sic] Williams 1921-1927 Julia Williams 1931-1939 I think Holland Williams was William Williams jnr. His residence starts when he was 21 and ends when he married. I think 2A Georges Square is the same as the 2 Bathurst Buildings of the 1921 census. |

That is interesting. Thanks for that. I can't find a birth for him under the name Holland Williams either though.
