My great uncle's has disappeared! I have his medals in a small box with the regimental crest on it. Father-in-law is still there, his medals are currently being professionally framed along with a photo of him in uniform and a page from his paybook.

Now there are just over 1 million records in the medal cards database. Still nowhere near as many as there were to start with.

This database has just been added:
UK Military Service Records 1939-1959 Currently contains nearly 250,000 records but the information says more than 2,000,000, so there are lots more to be added. It says that "Digitization of this collection is ongoing, and additional records will be added as they are digitized." Also this one which contains civil defence records: Westminster World War II Records
