Daniel Charles (Charlie) Philpott was a son-in-law of my great-grandfather, Edwin Flower Mitchell. Charlie and Edwin were both licencees of The Anchor Inn (323 Gloucester Road, Bristol) at various times from the late 1890s onwards - Charlie was the licencee for 40 years! My grandparents, Florence Elizabeth Mitchell and George Charles Burchill met there in 1905 when she was working there as a barmaid and he was a customer!
Though the caption says the bar is currently Bar Oz, it has now been renamed and is "The Anchor".

Went on the train to visit family in 1911 but couldn't get back to work (presumably because of the train strike?!)

This is Great Aunt Nan (Ann Elizabeth Hickton) again, this time with her husband Harold Lechner, I believe it is their wedding photo, so taken 24 April 1917! How is that for accurate dating.
