I don't know whether you already have this, but Lancashire Will Search has an entry for a William Andrew of Upper Mill in Saddleworth, weaver, 23 Jun 1813.

Kate, I have bought several wills for people in OH's tree in this district, most of them red herrings! I'll go and check to see if I have this one.
I've also got that baptism and I have tentatively got her mother as Betty Hawkyard: Possible marriage: Groom's Name: William Andrew Bride's Name: Betty Hawkyard Marriage Date: 1787 Marriage Place: Saddleworth, Yorkshire, England The problem is, in this part of the world, there seem to be so many Andrews and Newtons and all the other surnames in OH's tree. It's also complicated by the fact that you don't know whether to look in Yorkshire (Saddleworth), Lancashre (Staley) or Cheshire (Ashton under Lyne)! Perhaps the will will shed some light! Many thanks for your help. At least someone else is coming up with the same results! |
