Default Missing on censuses

I just know that someone is going to make me feel small again, but I have struggled for long enough now with this one.

I have a Sarah Ann Haynes, born c. 1868 in Huntingdonshire to parents Thomas, a Labourer, and Jane, who were married in 1867 in St. Neots.

Sarah Ann married Thomas Joseph Barrett in 1893 in Upminster Essex, but I cannot find her, or her parents on any of the censuses prior to this. I assume that the name Haynes has been mistranscribed in some way, but for it to happen several times is extremely annoying. On Sarah Ann's marriage cert. there are no members of her family as witnesses so I have no clues from there.

Sarah Ann must be there somewhere from 1871 to 1891, and her parents before that.

I can't see the parents marriage - do you have Jane's maiden name?

I think this might be Sarah Ann in 1891: RG12; Piece: 1061; Folio 54; Page 31, in Horsey, Middlesex. The name has been transcribed as Harkness, but if you look at the image, I think it is Haynes.

Merry, I am still waiting for the Cert - it may arrive tomorrow with luck (they are so quick these days), but it was June 1867 in St. Neots - I hope! So no, as yet I don't have the maiden name of Jane.

Sabrina, will go and look at that. It sounds promising

Where did Sarah Ann say she was born, after her marriage?

You are right Sabrina, the age and place of birth match perfectly. The name is very hard to decipher but it could be Haynes.

Does her mother have to be Jane? There's an Anne Haynes b Toseland on the 1871 census but her father, Thomas, is married to an Elizabeth (might not be Anne's mother though!). There's no birth reg for this person (as plain Ann*), so maybe she is actually Sarah Ann?

The one on the 1891 census is b Fen Stanton and there is a Sarah Ann on the 1871 census who seems to have different parents, so the 1891 woman night be that one. (sorry, not helpful!)

I see there are two Sarah Ann Haynes born 1867 one in Peterbro' and the other St Neot's, both of which come under Huntingdonshire. The one born Peterbro' dies Mar Q 1867, so that helps. I can find a Sarah Ann Haynes on the census, but her parents are George and Mary Ann Haynes. She is also born in Fenstanton. Her father is a Brewer's Labourer in 1881.
