Apart from Ancestry….
Are there any other places you can upload your Ancestry DNA and get matches ? I heard there was another site but cannot remember what it is. Extra points if I don’t have to take in ironing to pay for it.

Several of the other sites (like FTDNA, MyHeritage and Gedmatch) allow you to download your match data at chromosome level so you can view it on sites like DNAPainter. I've been playing with that a lot recently, and it's quite interesting.
MyHeritage and FTDNA also tell you which matches are triangulated, which is useful. Last edited by Mary from Italy; 20-02-22 at 16:51. |

Gedmatch is free, but apart from reading the T&Cs as Maggie said, make sure you use a different email address from usual, because if I remember rightly, the address you use on there is visible to other members.

I think since they have been taken over by Verogen they have upped their privacy regarding opting out of some things. But I would advise anyone to go through their profile and check their privacy if they set up an account.
