Default William Williams! not sure when - no idea!

Not sure when/where my chap was born or when he died!

IGI
William WILLIAMS (AFN: 158R-TTT) Birth: 1837 Christening: 25 Jun 1837 Rendcomb,
Parents: Father: Joseph WILLIAMS Mother: Elizabeth SHILL (AFN: 1GVV-7G)
[personal submission] I suspect he was born earlier, maybe 1835/6 which fits with most census entries, and was baptised a bit later. He also has different birthplaces with every census! All of them are within a few miles of eachother and equally plausible.

1841 HO107-0353 Folio No 20 Page No 6
Lower Gas Green, Cheltenham, Glos.
WILLIAMS Joseph 30 lab
Elizabeth 27
Louisa 8
>>>William 6 [birth year 1835]
All born in county

1851 census HO107/ 1968 / 126 p. 33.
North Cerney
Joseph 49 [?] game keeper Glo'shire Rendcomb
Elizabeth 35 [?] farm labourer Syde
Louisa 17 farm labourer Rapsgate
>>>William 15. [1836] farm labourer Westwood
[ the column with ages given is crossed over, making it hard to decipher]
[average agricultural wage Gloucestershire 1850 was 7s.]

1858 married Ann Mealing in Rendcombe. Of full age.

1861 census RG9 1781 82 p.9 Rendcombe
>>>William Williams 26 abt 1835 Winchcombe, Gloucestershire, Head agricultural labourer
Ann Williams 25 abt 1836 Rendcombe, Gloucestershire, Wife
Emma Williams 1 abt 1860 Cerney, Gloucestershire, Daughter

1862 William and Ann had twin sons who both died.
William's brother in law, William Mealing was tried and found innocent on the grounds of insanity of the murder of Sarah Moss. Prior to living with Sarah, William had been a lodger with William Williams' parents Joseph & Elizabeth.

Rendcomb burial, a possible child of William and Ann: Williams, Sarah (Woodmancote, N Cerney) 11/3/1868 (4 months)

1871 census RG10 2645 39 p., 31
Woodmancote/North Cerney
>>>William Williams 35,[birth year 1836] gardener [birthplace: Rendcombe, crossed out and written over: Winstone]
Ann 34 wife Rendcombe
Emma 11 scholar Woodmancote
Charles 7, scholar Woodmancote
Elizabeth aged 5 scholar Woodmancote
Sarah 9 months. Woodmancote
[average agricultural wage 1872 Gloucestershire 14s]

1881 RG11 2553 91 p.23
>>>>William Williams, b Rendcombe, 47, [birth year 1834] agricultural labourer, widowed with children:
Emma Williams, age 21,b Woodmancote/North Cerney, domestic servant,
Charles 17 b Woodmancote,ag lab,
Sarah, 11, b Woodmancote, scholar.
Also in family listed as "love-child" is Fanny Williams, age 2 months, born in Cirencester Union. I suspect that Fanny is Emma's illegitimate daughter - see 1891 census for Fanny Smith with Emma Smith mother and Moses Smith "father".

1882 William was the informant on his father Joseph's death certificate.

1891 RG12 2031 81 p.1
>>>>William 56,[abt 1835] b. Ramsgate [possibly Rapsgate?], has 2nd wife, Susan,, b Colesbourne . He is working as a roadsman labourer and they are living in Bagendon.

1901 RG13 2447 62 p.1
Eycot, Rendcombe [there's an Eycot Wood and an Aycote Farm ne of Rendcomb and north of Woodmancote]
>>>>William 66, [b. 1835] labourer on farm b. North Cerney
Susan, 67. b. Colesbourne

possible Deaths

difficult to find as no idea where he died or when. He isn't described as deceased on his son Charles' 2nd wedding 1907 but can't be found 1911 census.

some deaths in the indexes I've rule out:

Williams William 71 1905 Sep Cirencester 6a 217 [birth year 1834] [NOT CORRECT
William C. Williams age 78 1912 Jan Gloucester 6a p.457 [birth year 1834]

WILLIAMS William 67 Aylesbury 3a p.474 Dec 1903
Maybe, if moved to Aylesbury like son Charles, though this would have been much earlier. Perhaps this was the reason that Charles eventually moved to Aylesbury:
William Williams [abt 1836] 1903 Dec Aylesbury
This chap died Ashendon and deat informed by Ada Jones, occupier, present at the death, The Hute: Ashendon 19 Nov. William Williams aged 69 (or 67) general labourer
cause of death acutre bronchitis, pneumonia certifed.
without clue as to if this is my chap, but it seems unlikely.

1911 census
he isn't in Gloucestershire in 1911 nor is Susan.
