I believe he died 8 June 1868 in Aberfeldy, Perthshire, this is a real straw gripper - the copy of the register for the above death states he was a contractor, married to a Janet Anderson but, his mother’s maiden name is also listed as Janet Anderson and father listed as John. The person present was Alexander Scott who would have been his oldest son (this is actually the only thing ties up) and the only reason I believe this could be the correct death is that Alexander was “out the house” in 1841 and as his mother must have died between the 1841 census and the 1851, he could not remember any details? I have still not traced Janet’s death though.
