Richard STANBURY
Name - "official" name and what they were known as
Richard Stanbury Date and place of birth If the death I've found is the right one, he was born about 1785 Names of parents Not known Date and place of baptism - if applicable Not known Details of each of his or her marriages - if any Married Ann Burnham 9 March 1829 at St Saviour Southwark. They had 3 sets of banns - 1825, 1828 and 1829 - where Richard was sometimes a bachelor, sometimes a widower. So it's quite possible he'd been married before Occupation(s) - if any Tailor Addresses where they lived (including county if in UK) - and please list which censuses you have or haven't found him/her on (if s/he lived in census times!). Probably around Poplar. Middlesex Date, place and cause of death Date and place of burial. Possible burial All Saints Poplar 13 March 1836, age 51 Details of will / administration of their estate - if applicable Not known Memorial inscription - if any Not known Last edited by Lindsay; 02-11-14 at 14:32. |

The witnesses at the son's marriage were George Saberton and Mary Ann Stanbury.
In 1827 a George Saberton married a Mary Ann Burnham at St George in the East. http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin...32&recoff=9+10 And in 1829 a Richard Stanbury married an Ann Burnham at St Saviour Southwark http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin...recoff=9+10+27 Although it looks as though they called the banns twice before once in 1825 at St Dunstans Stepney and again in 1828 at St Saviour Southwark. There is a baptism for a Richard Stanbury to a Richard and Ann in 1826 at St Dunstans http://search.ancestry.co.uk/cgi-bin...14+38+39+50+51 Could be just a coincidence of course!

Thanks, Sue - the Saberton /Burnham / Stanbury marriages are interesting as George Saberton lived next door to Richard junior's widowed mother-in-law-to-be in 1851 (goodness that's complicated - took me a while to work it out!) ...looks like he was a connection of some sort not just a neighbour.
I'll follow that up - anything that gives me a lead on the Stanburys is welcome. They've been very elusive! Last edited by Lindsay; 06-02-11 at 20:20. Reason: complicated relationships! |

Some extra details added in the original post.
Sue hit the nail on head with the Stanbury / Saberton connection (thanks Sue!). Once I started looking there are loads of connections between the 2 families which have allowed me to get a lot further. |
