I took out a 6-month sub to FMP a couple of weeks ago; so far I've been using it mainly for burials, death duty index and passenger lists, but I was intending to have another go at the Schofields when I had a minute.
The TOGG board is certainly turning out to be useful. |

I'm so pleased I could help, Mary. I've had so much help over the past few years, so it's great to find something. This post drew me because both I and my OH have ancestors in this area.
Now we need to find out what happened to the siblings of Mary (Ann) but I have my daughter and fiance arriving imminently so it might have to wait... ![]() |

The 1799 baptism I found for Jane is wrong, because I've found the baptism and that child's burial on the Lancs OPC site.
This seems to be the most likely baptism, and there's no matching burial: Baptism: 29 Aug 1802 St Elphin, Warrington, Lancashire, England Jane Clayton - Daur of Clayton Mary, Widow |

That 1851 census piece isn't on Ancestry at all; it must be part of the "wet" part of the census, which was originally on FHOL, and now appears to be on FMP.
John Hindle gives his birthplace as Manchester in 1861, but as the 1851 wife was born in Warrington, it still seems like a good match. I've been looking for baptisms for Mary Ann's siblings on Lancs OPC, but it doesn't cover the right period for Manchester. Can't see a likely baptism for an Ann Clayton or Schofield on the IGI, assuming she is the child of John and Jane. Last edited by Mary from Italy; 26-02-10 at 20:41. |

I wish I could also find a baptism for Elizabeth Clayton.
