William James Crisp (MFFFF)
One of my favourites as I've known about him from childhood.
Name - "official" name and what they were known as William James Crisp Date and place of birth 29 June 1805, St Clement Danes parish, London Names of parents John and Mary Crisp Date and place of baptism - if applicable 4th August 1805, St Clement Danes Details of each of his or her marriages - if any 15 May 1827, Christ Church, Greyfriars, Newgate, London to Maria Thomson, witnesses Thomas Whiffen, M Stevens Occupation(s) - if any Grocer: 1828 insurance policy,1851 census and various trade directories 1854: on son William’s marriage cert he’s a butcher 1861: hop & fruit grower 1871: landowner, (he owned 8 acres 2 roods land at Ightham, Kent and 8 acres 2 roods 3 perches land in Bermondsey. His wife who was away from home in 1871 says she’s a hopgrower’s wife) 1881: retired grocer. Was also on the board of governors of Ightham school Addresses where they lived (including county if in UK) - and please list which censuses you have or haven't found him/her on (if s/he lived in census times!). 1828: 14 Commercial Road near Cannon Street, Stepney (Sun Fire insurance policy) 1830 & 1834 Commercial Road, Stepney (Sun Fire insurance policy) 1841: not found, census no longer exists for his address, his children are with their granddad Crisp in Ightham. 1847: 1 Sydney Place, Commercial Road, Stepney (daughter Kate’s birth cert) 1851: 1 Sydney Place, Commercial Road, Stepney 1861/71/81 Ightham, Kent 1888: 16 Tressillian Crescent, Brockley, Kent Date, place and cause of death, 13 Jan 1888, 16 Tressillian Crescent, Brockley, Kent, of apoplexy, 5 days Date and place of burial Not known - see below Details of will / administration of their estate - if applicable Estate divided equally between his 5 surviving children. (Maria Thomas nee Crisp, William James Crisp, Edward Crisp, Frederick John Crisp & Kate Beadle nee Crisp tho' Kate died in 1884 so her children had her share) Memorial inscription - if any Not known, nothing listed on website with Ightham MIs which is surprising as he died a relatively wealthy man Here he is on post #5 with his big white beard and son, grandson & great grandson.
