Why are the British Newspaper Archive adding so many recent editions?

In the latest "Findmypast Fridays", 11 out of the 23 latest additions (new papers or additions to those already included) to the British Newspaper Archive are from after 1980. Does anyone know why they are doing this? I would much rather they concentrate on papers from more than a century ago.

Perhaps that is where the demand is? Or perhaps it's already digitised, so quicker to get online?
