Default This is new, I think.

LDS volunteers will do look ups from their indexes. Not as useful as being able to view the films but it's something.

Interesting. Thanks, Gwynne. I will have to try to remember what I wished I could look at!

They give a link in there that I haven't seen before, for searching a hard-to-find book for sale:
bookfinder4u.com

I was relieved to find that a volume I spent a considerable sum on when someone finally offered it for sale at a price I could muster is currently available from only five sellers, and their price ranges from 50% higher to 5 times the price I paid. Patting myself on the back.

Looks potentially like a valuable addition to my book-hunting toolbox.

I used to know my way blindfold round the lds site including their library, which gave me many books to search for even if I couldn't borrow them from the lds library. Als, since they revamped the site some years ago, I find it frustratingly difficult to search and navigate, so I rarely bother now.

Rare books - I have a contact who paid £1 a page some years ago for a photocopy of a very rare book that one of her ancestors wrote. The only copy she could track down was in the British Library. The book ran to 297 pages.....she said it was mostly incomprehensible tripe and the rest was lies, lol.
