Segments and Centimorgans
Ancestry is now describing DNA matches in terms of segments and centimorgans. They explain the centimorgans, but not the segments. Are they significant?

The information was available on ancestry already, but you had to click a button to see it, whereas now they are showing it on the list.
There is some info about segments on My Heritage but it is pretty basic: https://faq.myheritage.com/DNA/DNA-M...A-segments.htm

Unfortunately ancestry doesn't tell you which particular segment(s) of which chromosome(s) match though hopefully they will get round to it one day.

Thanks Kite.
So Ancestry are counting anything of 6.0 and above cMs as being potentially useful, but unless you have the paperwork to prove it you are only likely to prove the match if you have more than one segment or they are much longer?

Don't ask me! Hopefully someone else on here knows?
