17th century 'Warden'

Can anyone pse tell me if the title 'Warden' in 1603 could have meant anything
other than a churchwarden ?

There was the Warden of the Guards, Warden of the Cinque Ports etc, It's the same root as guardian, so suggests someone in charge of something with responsibility for safeguarding it.
