Is there some kind of confusion over Donegal? I've found a great-uncle's marriage on GRONI (Ards, Donegal) but his wife's birth (pretty sure she was born in Ards) isn't on either site. I don't know what the cut-off points are in terms of dates and borders, but I'd have assumed Donegal was considered Irish Republic records?

The partition of Ireland was in the 1920s so I assume Eire would hold all the records for Ireland up until then. I believe only 6 of Ulster's counties would eventually be in what we consider to be Northern Ireland today although during the 1920s they re-drew the border a few times before it was finally settled.

http://www.irishgenealogynews.com/20...-of-birth.html "UPDATE 7:30pm: I've just spent a happy hour of research on the IrishGenealogy site, and it seems to be working just fine. There are, however, 'gaps' in the availability of images, as mentioned above, plus a few records that 'should', by time frame, have an image attached, but don't. I've also received emails from researchers who have found indexed entries that link to the wrong images. There seem to be more instances of this than I'd have expected. I've even found my own example: Bessie Santry, born 1896 in Kinsale; she doesn't appear on the linked page of the register.

I've emailed some questions regarding the issues raised today. I'll let you know the response in due course.

UPDATE: 8 September: I've heard back from the Department of Arts, Heritage Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs who manage the site. The website now holds 12.5million Index records linked to 2.5million images from the historic registers of Births, Marriages and Deaths. Images are available as follows:
Births: 1864 to 1915
Marriages: 1882 to 1940
Deaths: 1891 to 1965
The Images of the pre-1882 registers of Marriage and pre-1891 registers of Deaths are being updated by the General Register Office and will be added to the website in due course.

I have also been advised that the website may fluctuate a bit today while some last-minute checks are run before this evening's official launch."

Ah, of course, that makes sense. I am often guilty of overlooking the most obvious of details.

Explains why I found a 1900 death I was after, but not a 1931 death.

I'm finding that a lot of the images that I want to view aren't available yet.

Catharine looks like 9 o/c am which I assume means 9 o'clock, and I think Mary Ann might be 9 1/2 o/c am. Further down the page are triplets! Born 3 o/c am, 4 o/c am and 4 1/2 o/c am. The 1/2 is clearer on that one.

The NI records online ordering is here:

https://geni.nidirect.gov.uk

It gives you a Townland map too but you have to register to do anything except search, you can do a free name search.
