1827: Gentleman – (hmm, aren’ t they all) at son William’s baptism
1835: Grocer of 15 High St, Portland Town (nr St John’s Wood) from youngest dau’s baptism at St Marylebone
The other childrens’ baptisms have no father’s occupation.
1854: (Dead by then) Grocer – from daughter Jane’s marriage cert (Jane’s my 2x gt grandmother)
Jul 1854: (dead) Clerk – from dau Mary’s marriage cert
1855: Clerk from same dau Marys 2nd marriage to the same man, different parish
1856: Government clerk – dau Ann’s first marriage cert
1870: Mercantile clerk – dau Ann’s 2nd marriage
1878: East India Company Clerk -Wife’s death cert she is described as widow of William Lawrence, East India Company Clerk (informant dau Mary)
