I would ask my 2xGGM whether the name she had when she married was her name when she was born or whether she changed it. Also which country she was born in and what ethnicity she was.

I have long wanted to ask my 4x great grandparents about their lives.
For 7 years, 1807-1814, Thomas Brazill and Mary Smith lived apart as Thomas was a "prisoner of Napoleon" in France. Thomas was a master mariner whose ship "Rising Sun" was captured by the French off the east coast of England and he and his crew were taken to France. He was released after the defeat of Napoleon in 1814 and returned home to Deptford. I have wanted to ask him about his early life - was he "apprenticed to the sea" as a young teenager, and was it the same for his brother Jacob. Did they ever sail together? What was life like for Mary, left in Rotherhithe with 3 young daughters to raise? In 1812 she petitioned Trinity House Corp for support as she had no means of support, but how did she manage for the first 5 years? What did they do after he returned? What made them come out to New South Wales in 1837, when they were in their old age (Thomas was 70) So many many questions. |

I have so many questions.
My great grandmother Annie bc1859 Co Fermanagh but where - was her father really James Bresland (or Breslin) and what was her mother's name. Is the year of birth correct - if the census ages are correct she would have been 56 when she died in 1915 not 65 as stated on death certificate. My uncle by marriage always wanted to know what happened to his grandmother Bridget Hazlett and her family. Her son Felix was born in 1915 in Manor Hamilton but have found nothing about his mother and family. There wasn't a 1921 census in Ireland. OH's ancester James Farmer was born c1799 in Ireland his parents were Hugh Farmer and Helen McBryde (according to his death certificate in Scotland). DNA suggests Monahan as a place of origin and I found a Hugh Farmer living there who could have been James's brother or father or not who knows?
