FamilySearch has this baptism in their new Essex Parish Registers database:
John Brewer baptised 9 Apr 1769 at "Hedingham-Sible, Essex", parents Joseph Brewer and Hanna.

Other children of the same parents: Joseph 20 Feb 1756, Mary 16 Sep 1759, Margaret 10 Jan 1762, Anne 4 Mar 1764, Isaac 21 Apr 1771, Samuel 12 Sep 1772.

Possible marriage of parents? Joseph Brewer married Hanna Mingey 4 Jun 1754 at Great Yeldham, Essex.

By the way, being a marriage witness in Aldham in 1798 doesn't necessarily mean he lived in the parish at that time.

Possible first marriage? John Brewer married Susan Gray 25 May 1797 Gestingthorpe. But if so, I can't see a death for her on FamilySearch.

Thanks! I'd been planning to look at those new records but hadn't got round to it. They look very promising.
