I applied for my uncles RAF record from WW2 on the 15th June. Emailed to me yesterday. A lot faster than the Army. I’ve sent for two more uncles records from the Army and nothing yet. My father in laws took 13 months.

Yes, that's very similar to my experience. My dad's RAF records took two or three weeks, but my F-l-L's army records took well over a year. I hope the remaining ones you have ordered arrive soon!

The rest are all army.

Did you find on your dad’s record that a few bits were redacted? Couldn’t understand why as it was his next of kin and previous occupation which I knew anyway.

I don't remember anything being redacted. Erm, if I knew where they were I could go any look!!

Gosh really? My dad's was more like an A3 sized book (and I still don't know where it is!)! he served for 33 years, passing away six months before he was due to retire (early due to poor health).

My uncle was a leading aircraft’s man getting to be a corporal from 1941 to 1946.

33 years is bound to be a bigger file. I got 2 pages plus an explanation of what all of the military abbreviations meant.
