Default Dumbrack or Dumbreck not Thumbath!

Merry et al: I have another question for you. Maybe you can resolve another family mystery? My 5th great grandfather John Savary married Elizabeth ????. Her surname is indecipherable and transcribed “Thumbath” but it looks as if this was later corrected to “Dumbrack” (see email from my cousin Linda below).

Hello Richard,
I am fairly sure that Elizabeth’s surname was Dumbrack.
On the record of her marriage it states that on - May 7th 1730 John Savary and Elizabeth Thumbath Bath? Signed Gents (illegible) Witness Isaac Ribaut, then underneath it has N.B. Lady’s name is Dumbrack

All the best, Linda

Yes, it says at the bottom that her name is Dumbrack.
